It’s hard to hide: I love food! Taste, to me, has always been one of the more evocative senses. I just love trying out new flavors and tastes, and the feeling of having a full belly is a very satisfying one.
But not everyone shares my joy of eating good food, of course. And for a select few, this is an actual condition that affects their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
Michael, 9, looks like a normal kid, but his condition forces his mother to get only certain groceries just for him. He runs away from food at the dinner table, and refuses to even look at it. He claims to be afraid of food.
And the list of foods he isn’t afraid of is quite short.
The mother isafraid that he isn’t getting the nutrients and vitamins he needs, but there’s not much she can do. She has taken her son to see all kinds of specialists and doctors, but with no progress in overcoming the condition.
Now, Michael is reduced to consuming simple crackers, along withjust a few other foods. They even have to look a certain way, or else he will refuse to eat them.
Everyone agrees that this is beyond picky eating. Hopefully he will get the help he needs to grow up to be big and strong.
